I bought this book after reading the review on the Smithsonian website. Fun feline photography and historical tales ahoy! Described as charming and fun (yeah it’s definitely not). Received the book today and the first story I flipped to was a graphic detail of feline torture. C’MON!!! It’s 2020, my life sucks, and I was hoping for an enjoyable book, not this garbage I regretted having opened. Had I have seen a warning of graphically described violence towards cats I never would have purchased. The book still could have kept the historical significance of the referenced times brought about by the big bad Christians while leaving out the disgusting violent descriptions. I’m *not* Christian, but they are certainly described in a special light in this book! Maybe some of the stories are funny or charming, but I’m not up for finding out.
